The route planner IDOS won the competition of the European Commission for the best multimodal route planner.

“The Ministry of Transport appreciates such an award. We are glad that it is the Czech Republic, which has such a good search program whose quality was now confirmed also by the European Union.” said the spokesman of the Ministry of Transport – Martin Novák and added: “The important thing is, that IDOS is quite easy to operate and is available to general public, which supports the public transport.”

Comfortable traveling of individuals around Europe is one of the priorities of Siim Kallas, Vice-President of the European Commission who is responsible for transport. The competition, which was choosing the best and user most comfortable search program for the travelling around Europe, was announced at the turn of this year.

The voting in which 12 European projects were trying to gain public favor took place from December of last year to mid-January 2012.

The website of IDOS, which is sharing the first place with the Italian route planner Trenitalia, is monthly opened by up to 66 million users. The representatives of the operating companies will obtain the award at the meeting of the Transport Committee of European Parliament on 26 March 2012.
