The strategic Interport Košice transshipment centre, which connects the broad-gauge and European railway networks, is undergoing extensive revitalisation. The project, worth more than EUR 53 million and supported by European funds, aims to make Interport one of the most modern logistics hubs in Central Europe.

Part of this transformation is a tender for the supply of key technological systems that will ensure efficient and safe operation of the entire terminal. The tender comprises three parts:

  1. TOS – Terminal Operation System
A software solution that will manage and plan the entire operation of the transshipment centre. TOS will connect logistics processes, freight forwarding, accounting and economic systems, handling and capacity management, operation evaluation, and communication with customers and carriers. This system constitutes the backbone of the entire terminal and also serves as an interface for internal and external connections with partners.
  2. Security system + Data transparency and reporting for effective decision-making
Given Interport’s location, security will play a crucial role. The solution includes integrating the monitoring, control elements, and security technologies directly with operational management to ensure maximum protection of goods and infrastructure.
  3. Car park management system and weighing hardware
Implementation of a fully digitised parking system, including hardware installation – from scales to signs, traffic lights and navigation elements. This system will ensure smooth movement of vehicles and efficient customer service.

Contribution of CID International

CID International, a.s., a Czech technology company with almost thirty years of experience in software solutions for transport, freight forwarding, warehousing and intermodal terminals, is one of the main technology partners of the project. Its systems are currently used by logistics centres across Central Europe.

“The revitalisation of Interport is a prime example of how modern infrastructure can be combined with the latest digital technologies with emphasis on sustainability. The basic goal is to streamline and automate processes related to goods handling, movement records, transport planning and communication between individual links in the supply chain. Digitisation of data flows plays a key role here, enabling real-time connectivity between carriers, freight forwarders, warehouse operators, terminals and customers. The revitalised Interport will thus become an intelligent logistics hub that will be efficient, secure, transparent, and competitive at European level,” says Rostislav Vašek, Director of CID International.

Significance for the region

The combination of CID International’s technological know-how and the ambitious development of Interport is of strategic importance not only for Slovakia but also for the wider region of Central and Eastern Europe. The project will support employment, increase the attractiveness of eastern Slovakia for investors, and strengthen the role of Košice as an important transport and industrial hub.
