Digital transformation of the railway car

The railway sector is undergoing a fundamental transformation. In the era of digitalization and Industry 4.0, the demand for efficiency, safety, and the ability to quickly respond to actual operational status is growing. That is why OLTIS Group is coming up with a project for an intelligent car – a modernly equipped railway car that collects, evaluates, and shares data in real time. With the help of wireless sensors, powerful communication units, and analytical tools, it will provide operators and fleet managers with a comprehensive overview of the technical and operational status of each car.

Smart vehicle status monitoring and management

One of the main benefits of a smart car is the ability of continuous monitoring. The LWP SIMON system monitors technical parameters – such as bearing temperature, wheel wear or the brake systems condition – and operating data, including exact location of the car. This data is transmitted to a central web application, where it is processed into clear graphs, statistics, and warning messages. This allows for early detection of impending faults and the reciprocal planning of maintenance based on real needs, not just pertaining to time or mileage.

Efficient maintenance and safer operation

The smart car will bring a fundamental shift in the field of maintenance. Thanks to a predictive approach, it will be possible to carry out service interventions exactly when needed. This will not only reduce operating costs, but also increase safety. Sensors will detect, for example, the wear on brake components, pressure in the brake system, or wheel slippage. Early detection of deviations from normal state can prevent serious breakdowns or accidents.

Transparency and planning thanks to digital tools

The solution will also include a web and mobile application that will allow fleet managers or field technicians to quickly access the necessary data. In addition to an overview of the location and technical condition of individual vehicles, the application will also offer tools for recording inspections, recording defects or planning transport. This will significantly increase the transparency of operations and enable more effective decision-making.

Reliable technical support

We are developing the entire system on robust and low-cost technologies. Wireless sensors communicate via Bluetooth and, thanks to batteries with a lifespan of up to 10 years, do not require frequent maintenance. The communication unit is equipped with GPS and a solar panel, which ensures its maintenance-free operation even in demanding conditions. This makes the solution easy to install and reliable in the long term.
